Silent Adieu


As I carry my luggage towards the door, the room fell silent and the lights flickered in all candor.
I looked around, and I saw your books lined up neatly on the shelves and your laptop still on.
I took a sudden glance at you and I had to muster all my strength not to run and wake up and plead you to stop me.
I knew you would not stop me.
And so I wiped my tears and turned my back.
I knew I had to leave you.
And it's not because I don't care about you anymore but because I care too much about you.
This is a silent adieu to the one whose name rhymes with the beat of my heart.
I will bother you no more.
